AN APPEAL

Dear Professional Colleagues,

Sub: Appeal for liberal contribution from the CA fraternity to support the people of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry

The GAJA Cyclone lashed out has left behind a colossal natural disaster in the coastal parts of Tamil Nadu at Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Pudukottai, Puducherry and nearby areas causing an unprecedented and extensive damage to lakhs of acres of crops, plantations, uprooting lakhs of trees besides total collapse of electrical, communication, mobility and inundating the entire areas with widespread rain. The havoc rendered thousands of people hapless, homeless and their life despondent. The extent of the devastation was the severest requiring massive and speedy relief measures to the affected people.

The Government of Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and number of NGOs have geared up their administrative machinery in a mammoth way. It is in this hour of need to the people of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry that SIRC, as has always been, would be in the forefront to contribute its mite through munificent contribution from its members. The contribution would help in rehabilitating the distraught people and in bringing them back to normal life stream.

The Southern India Regional Council looks forward to the support of its members and hereby makes an earnest appeal to its members in the Region to join hands in the humanitarian task to rebuild the cyclone-affected areas and to restore the livelihood of the affected people. SIRC looks forward to significant contribution from the members to this common cause to alleviate the sufferings of the people caused by the colossal natural calamity.
